Salisbury Cathedral - A 20 minute walk
The focus of the City
Salisbury Cathedral is a superb example
of medieval architecture boasting the tallest spire in England which
dominates the city skyline. Its Chapter House contains one of the four
surviving copies of Magna Carta, which is on view to visitors all year
except December. Regular guided tours of the Cathedral, Tower and West
Front are available.

Old Sarum - A 10 minute drive

have all left their mark. Situated high above Salisbury Plain, this was the
original Salisbury - and it occupies a unique place in history. William the
Conqueror built a great palace and the first Salisbury Cathedral here.
Part of the Doomsday book was written here, and
on it's completion it was to Sarum that William summoned all the landholders in
England to swear their oath of allegiance. |
